Prof Richard Fox, head of science at the UK charity Butterfly Conversation, says: “We’ve had this incredibly warm, dry spring and this ongoing hot weather so that really puts them in a good place to put on a fantastic, colourful show in our gardens and countryside this summer.” The Big Butterfly Count takes place between 17th July - 9th August.
The RSPB says Bittern are breeding at Lodmoor Nature Reserve. The charity said the female Bittern had been seen making regular feeding flights across the reserve.
